Under the Science and Society programme, the Academy strives to address the issues pertaining to Science and Technology that are of relevance to the society at large. Some of the initiatives are : Science education programme, Study Groups for the preparation of well considered documents, topical seminars of Sociatal relevance to initiate enthusiasm and positive discussion amongst the scientific community.

A symposium on "Nutrition Security for India-Issues and Way Forward" was held on August 3rd and 4th 2009,at INSA auditorium with financial support from the Science for Equity Empowerment and Development (SEED), Department of Science and Technology(DST), Government of India.
