Bright Sparks

The Indian National Science Academy (INSA) which was established on 7th January 1935 as National Institute of Sciences of India (NISI), celebrated the Platinum Jubilee Year in 2009.The commemorative events were inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh on January 10, 2009 at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi where nearly over 1000 scientists including fellows of the Academy participated. Subsequent programmes after the inaugural function were continued till January 12 at the Academy premises.

Proceedings of inaugural function and subsequent symposia, lectures delivered during January 2009 were released by the Minister for S&T on 7th December 2009 at Kolkata, which are attached may be viewed.

The concluding function of the Platinum Jubilee was held in Kolkata from 7-10 December 2009. The city of Kolkata was chosen keeping in view the historical background about creation of INSA in that city in 1935. An attempt is being made to publish the proceedings of the concluding function by middle of 2010. The Power Point presentations/slides presented at Kolkata function are also attached and may be viewed.
