25 Indian scientists participated in International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics 2008 held in August at Adelaide (Australia) through a joint initiative of Australian Academy of Sciences and New Zealand Theoretical and Applied Mechanics communities
Professor N.K.Gupta led the Indian team representing the Indian National Committee for IUTAM (International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics) in the congress which was attended by around 1200 scientists all over the world. Indian scientists made presentations covering experimental, analytical and numerical studies in various areas of solid and fluid mechanics. Professor N.K.Gupta delivered an invited lecture on “Plasto-mechanics of Large Deformation under Impact Loading” and has been elected to the Bureau and the Congress Committee of IUTAM. The Congress Committee also agreed to organize an IUTAM symposium in India.
